 Blackfoot Piecemaker’s Quilt Club

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

President, Serena Yancey, opened the meeting by greeting members. 

Portneuf Valley Quilt Guild is hosting a Quiltfest, October 2-3, 2026 at the MEC Center in Pocatello.  There will be vendors, quilt raffle, block challenge, demos and a quilt show.

Garden of Quilts will be held at Thanksgiving Point, Utah, September 18-19, 2026.  Cost is $35

A BIG thank you to all who lent a helping hand to finish the many charity quilts.  They were received with much appreciation.

Eastern Idaho State Fair Quilt Raffle.  Return your raffle tickets and plan to volunteer at the fair.  All proceed from the raffle go towards local charities and materials for charity quilts.

Elizabeth Baskets:  Needed donations at this time are boys blankets and diapers..

Raffle Blocks:  Kathy Dietrich showed the raffle block for the September challenge, Bright Star.  New colors were introduced and changed to gold fall colors with a white on white background.

EDUCATION:  Linda Dance presented a paper origami rendition of how to fold a quilt on the bias and demonstrated how to wind your binding into a figure 8 skein for easy application to a quilt.

 

 

 QUILT BY NUMBER Challenge:  These ladies took on the challenge Sandy Spaulding, Linda Dance, Serena Yancy, Joyce Lewis, Ruth Blackadar, and Andrea Wodek

WHAT A DIFFERENCE a change of fabric can make using the same quilt pattern.  Both quilts presented by members is the quilt pattern, Lollipops & Licorice by Jen Kingwell

Trudy Stubbs:  Ladder Block quilt, scrappy batik quilt, fall pheasant panel, apron and bags

 

 

Janine Shigihara:  Patriotic block of the month

Lori Jarmin:  Peter Rabbit, a denim quilt with the pockets in tact, and a Lella Boutique Concord

 

 

Linda Michaelson:  Bag made of 6 fat quarters and a panel bag

 

Elaine Stevenson:  presented the Double Star raffle blocks from the July challenge

Nancy Diaz:  Beautiful quilts using the Tucker Rulers to create and a panel one-block wonder for an amazing Halloween quilt with characters for the backing

 

 

Rosy Neitzel:  a fun large bag for transporting her sewing machine
