PIECEMAKERS' QUILT CLUB

President Lori Jarmin started the meeting with an announcement that the Piecemakers' had donated $500 dollars to the Lutheran Church to help in their "light fixtures" upgrade project.  

Quilt show information was given for upcoming shows in Pocatello & Council, Idaho, Portland,Oregon and the HMQS in Salt Lake City.

The guidelines for the "PHD" challenge were discussed and forms were handed out for the participation deadline next month.

Mary Woods had a handout for uses and types of batting 
that was prepared by Fairfield and was an addition to the information 
from last months instruction by Connie Tabor.


CHARITY DAY REMINDER for May 8, 2014 at the Lutheran Church
starting at 9:00 am.    Lunch will be provided.

Mary Woods, Madge Linday and Alice Baumgartner presented the raffle quilt for this year that will be raffled at the Eastern Idaho State Fair in September.

A drawing was held for those participating in
  "getting to know you"!

Vee Gibson, one of our newest members, told us about herself; 
where she grew up and how she got involved in quilting

Debbie Miles, one of our longtime members, grew up in the area and her involvement in a quilting group in Pingree that does a lot of charitable work.

Nan Harrison, told us about her traveling over the years (following her husbands' work), her many family members and joining our club.

Mary Woods gave a book report on Color and their use in quilts 
and a trunk show with many examples of these.

 Mary handed out a paper on important color guidelines and 
using the color wheel in planning the use of color in our quilts.

Pure Color - primary colors - Summer quilts

 Tinted Colors - Spring

Shaded Colors, diluted with black - Fall

 Toned Colors - diluted with grey - Winter

Salmon - Using warm tones for energy against 
cooler colors that provide background

Use of Ruby Beholder to help determine value of fabrics.

Use of light colors for contrast
