The board will meet November 3rd at 10:00 am.

Candy welcomed and introduced our guest speaker, Mary Woods, former member. She now resides in Hamilton, Montana.  She gave us a little history of her life and also her quilting endeavors!  She moved to Blackfoot in 2005 and was encouraged to attend a Piecemakers' meeting by her friend Nan Harrison.
She soon became involved and before she knew it she was elected president when approached by Mary Nickell.
Our club has never been the same since she left us!!!
Now that she is quilting in Montana she has learned about a "Bed Turning" which is what they call a Trunk Show.
She brought quilts that show a little of her quilting history.

Mary showing a quilt she made when she took a class from John Flynn,
an engineer, that has become involved in the quilting industry.

A quilt made my Mary's grandmother and given to Mary's mother.
In good condition as it has probably never been used.

This quilt was Mary's first quilt, a log cabin
made with Wal Mart fabric.  She used a sheet for the backing.
Hand Quilted.

This quilt shows that you don't have to worry about making mistakes.
She sewed one block wrong and so she added another one
to make it look like she planned it that way!
Quilt holders Julia Wareing (left) and Lori Jarmin (right)

This quilt is an example of  "math gone wrong".

Made in a class where piles of fabrics are split into
light, medium, and dark.  Most of Mary's fabrics were medium,
so she split piles into cool and warm.

Mary said this is a camp quilt.  She tends to use dark colors for her
backgrounds and also prints that have writing on them.

Another example of Mary's dark backgrounds on this tablecloth.

This quilt was made with fabric patches she got on vacations to the National Parks.
Not available in all parks but might be obtained through the
National Park Service.  The quilting looks like the topography lines seen on maps.

An example of low contrast fabrics that hide the stitches.
This quilt is called "Bodice River novels".

Lori Jarmin showing some of the Christmas stockings
Mary has made for her family.

Yes, Flowers do belong on a Christmas stocking!

Julia Wareing showing some of the stockings
that Mary has made recently for her grandkids.

Bunches of stockings made with wool and polyester felts.

This quilt has many flying geese (picots) that make it harder to quilt
because they have to be pinned out of the way to quilt under them.

This is a PG rated quilt with a story only Mary can tell.
So next time you see her, ask her about her
"The things you'll do for sex quilt."

This was a block of the month row quilt

Mary made this quilt and she actually made sure her points weren't cut off!
It is called "Eureka" and was machine quilted by LeeAnn Price.

Mary did this "Mystery Row Quilt" from Leslie Stevens quilt pattern.

Lori Jarmin presented Mary Woods with a gift basket from the club
for all her efforts to come to our club meeting
and presenting her "Bed Turning".

THANK YOU MARY!!!!!
