JANUARY Meeting 2019

Blackfoot Piecemaker's Quilt Club
Held on January 24, 2019
at the Lutheran Church in Blackfoot ID

Conducted by our new president:
Kathryn Evans

She began the meeting giving us a brief history of herself and how she got into quilting.

She learned how to use coping strips to make her block the size she needed. She named them "cheater strips".

The wedding quilt her grandmother made for her when she was married.

This year's Raffle Quilt was introduced.
Patterns were handed out to members.  They are due in February and March.  Please use contrasting Christmas Fabric.
Don't forget to make 3" blocks for the border.

At our February 14th class we are making "Snap Bags"
Class and Kit is $9.50
Please bring 3 fat quarters to make bag.
Contact Kathryn Evans if you are interested in taking any class.

At our  March 14th class we are painting wooden quilt blocks.  They are 24" x 24".  Cost is $25.00
Everything is provided.

These are some of the quilts that were finished at our Charity Quilt Day in January.

Mimi Jones is the Eastern Idaho Rep for Quilts of Valor
contact her at:  mimijones65@gmail.com

This quilt was donated by Eula Baldwin at our Christmas party.
We've decided to raffle it off to our club members in July.

Kathryn gave some wonderful information on the quality of fabric.  We learned that even though low end fabric stores have the same kind/color of fabric, it is not the quality that you buy in high end fabric stores.  You can usually tell the quality by the feel of the fabric, when sewing on it or when it is washed.
IT PAYS TO BUY GOOD QUALITY FABRIC!
