Book Report
by Julia Wareing on the Nickel Quilt patterns. This
is the pattern book that we will be using in the
April 12th class.
These two quilts are made by Doris Coffey.
These are from the Nickel Quilt Book
by Pat Speth and Charlene Thode
Julia made the two blocks that will be
taught in the class. The part of the block
you don't use makes the other block.
Then we had a demonstration on
labels by Lori Jarmin
Do you label?
It is important to label your quilts with important to include
- who made
- the year
- pattern Name
- occasion
- given to
- poem
You can include any of the information that you want.
Ideas of how to do:
You can print off on the computer and use a fabric pen to copy on
fabric using a light box (or window)
Can buy labels by the yard and then print on the label you want
You can iron the label on a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of freezer paper
You can design your own signature label
When printing on a fabric use a tight weave fabric
Lori told us how to use Bubble Jet Set 2000
Connie Tabor does a yard at a time
Soak for five minutes (pour back in bottle) in the liquid.
Let fabric dry, then iron. Use a piece of freezer paper cut 8 1/2 x
11 inches and iron on to print. (You could get several on the sheet
depending on the size) Let set for 30 minutes. Take off
freezer paper, rinse in cold water and let dry. Then iron.
You need to store treated piece in light proof container or
Ziploc bag and store in a dark place.
You can sew in the side and bottom binding.
You can even put your name in a seam.
