October 28, 2010 Meeting

 Our new president Julia Wareing presented checks for $1500 to both the Bingham County Meals on Wheels Program and the Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency (SEICAA). The money donated was from the proceeds made at the annual quilt raffle at the Eastern Idaho State Fair.  The Piecemakers Quilt Club has made a quilt for a charity raffle every year since the club formed in the late 1980's. Club members sell raffle tickets at the Fair and the winning ticket was drawn on the last night of the fair. Debbie Miles won the raffle quilt. Members made blocks for the quilt and it was set together by Madge Lindsay and the machine quilting was done by Shirley Wilson. Club members vote on a local organization to donate the proceeds of the raffle each year. We have approximately 90 members.

We all enjoyed a quilt trunk show by Lori Mattson.  She shared approximately 25 quilts she has made over the last 5-6 years when she began quilting.

A potluck lunch was served and everyone received a mganetic pointer as a favor.

raffle quilt which was made by the club members and
then raffled at the EISF.

Thanks to our out going president Mary Woods for
all her hard work and the hours she spent to
contribute to a wonderful year of quilting in 2010.

Lori Mattson presented a trunk show of
the quilts she had made.  It was a wonderful
presentation of about 20-25 quilts.



Lori Jarmin pieced together a quilt for the
Lutheran church to raffle off with the extra
blocks left over from the fair raffle quilt.
She did a beautiful job and we all want to
buy raffle tickets so we can win and have it
on our bed.



Serena Yancey loved the quilt that Lori Jarmin had pieced
together and made a similar one for her boss for Christmas.

which she will present to the soldiers serving
our country, fighting the war in Iraq.
