Here are the directions for the Magic Christmas Stockings demonstrated by Madge Lindsay
Fabrics are cut in about 11" X 17" rectangles.
Place 2 pieces of the stocking fabric right sides together.
This will be the outer side of the stocking.
Layer a thin piece of batting on top.
Then place 2 pieces of the lining fabric on top (right sides together.)
Now add another layer of batting.
Mark and sew around stocking sewing line, but do not sew across the top.
Cut out the stocking leaving a 1/2" seam. Reach in between lining layers
and pull right side out. Then reach in between the stocking layers and
pull right side out.
Make a band for the top,add a ribbon to hang it up from the back,
sew the band to the inside of stocking and then turn to the outside.
